Product Categories: Sort order vs Alphabetical
Click Catalog.
Click Categories.
You will be redirected to the Product Categories page.
Enter in information for your new Category or edit an existing Category by selecting one from the menu on the right. See below image:
At bottom of the edit area select “Sort Order” or “Alphabetical”.
This determines whether the products will be sorted in this category by an assigned list with Sort Order, or Alphabetically by the first letter in their title..
To assign a product to a category:
Click Catalog.
Click Products.
Select a Product.
You will be redirected to the product’s listing.
In the top menu, Click Categories.
Select which categories you want assigned.
In the upper right corner, click “Save And Continue” to save changes.
Sort Order
If using Sort Order you must set the sort number for the product.
While in the Edit Product screen click Advanced in the top menu.
Click into the Sort Order box.
Enter the number you want the product to be in order for its category. See image below.
To view all products in a category:
Click Catalog
Click Products
Sort by category
Select the desired category.
The listed items will be organized based on the chosen setting for the category.
Alert: If you delete a category that product is assigned to, you will create errors in the system. Before deleting a category, you must first remove all products from it.
