Zangerine allows you to create custom fields within your database. This is one of Zangerine’s most powerful tools in customizing your database to fit your personal workflow needs. Once a custom field has been created they will appear within the preferences for list pages and if requested can be populated on internal documents such as invoices.
The pages that custom fields appear on are as follows:
- Product: Appears in the Attributes tab inside a product listing.
- Order: Appears on the modify order screen in the Extra’s section.
- Quote: Appears in the Extra’s section.
- PO: Appears in a purchase order under the Extras section.
- PO Vendor: Appears in a vendor listing under Custom Fields.
- Customer: Appears in a customer listing between Status and Addresses.
- Customer Company: Appears in a company listing beneath Other Address(s).
- Serial Number: Appears in a Serial number listing above History.
- Click Settings.
- Click Custom Fields.
- You will be redirected to the Custom Fields edit screen. See image below:
- Select the section of Zangerine you want the custom field to appear using the tabs at the top of the screen. See image below:
- Under Type, Select One of the following:
- Textbox: Allows you to enter text freely.
- Textarea: Give you tools along with a textbox. See image below:
- Select: Creates a drop down menu to select custom options.
- Create a Name for your field.
- The requested format is all lowercase with no spaces during creation. If you break from this format you will see the following error:
- After creation you can edit the name to include capital letters. To represent spacing, use the dash( _ ) key.
- Click Insert to add the field to the Result (Sortable) section. See image below:
- Click Submit Options to populate the custom field and save it to your database.
If you set the Type to Select, do the following:
- Once you’ve set the Type and created a Name, Click Insert.
- The custom field will ask you to set Option Value(s). See image below:
- In the Option Value field, enter what you want to be available to select in the custom field.
- E.G. if using color, enter green.
- Click Add Option.
- The Option value will populate under the field name.
- Clear the Option Value field and repeat steps 2-4 until all your desired options are added. See image below:
- Click Submit Options.
- The Custom Select field will appear in your selected area.
